EXERCISES FOR SPIRITUAL FITNESS

Rick Warren & Tom Holladay   ||   Saddleback Church

"Spend your time and energy in the exercise of keeping spiritually fit.  Bodily exercise is good, but spiritual exercise is even more important and is a tonic for all you do. So exercise yourself spiritually and practice being a better Christian, because that will help you not only now in this life, but in the next life too."1 Tim. 4:7-8

1. ANCHOR YOUR ASSURANCE IN
Jesus: "I assure you, those who listen to me and believe in my message and in God who sent me have eternal life! They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life."John 5:24 (NLT)

Jesus: "My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me, and I give them real and eternal life. They are protected from the Destroyer for good. NO ONE can steal them from out of my hand, The Father, who put them under my care, is so much greater than the Destroyer, so no one could ever steal them away from him!"John 10:27-29 (Mes)

2. DECLARE YOUR FAITH BY
"Those who declare publicly that they belong to me, I will do the same for them before my Father in heaven. But those who reject me publicly, I will reject before my Father in heaven."Matt. 10:32-33 (TEV)

3. RENEW YOUR STRENGTH IN
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles..."Isaiah 40:31

4. DEEPEN YOUR PEACE THROUGH
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."Phil. 4:6-7 (NLT)

5. SUPPORT YOUR GROWTH THROUGH
"Do not give up the habit of meeting together... but let us encourage one another."Heb. 10:25 (TEV)

6. FEED YOUR SOUL BY
Jesus: "People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God."Matt. 4:4 (NLT)

Jesus said, "If you continue in My Word, then you are truly my disciples/ Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free."John 8:31

7. DEVELOP YOUR S.H.A.P.E. BY
"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another."1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."Col. 3:23

8. STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART BY
"On the first day of every week, each of you should put aside something from what you have earned during the week and use it for your offering to God. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn."1 Cor. 16:2 (LB)

"Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."2 Cor. 9:7 (NIV)

9. STRETCH YOUR FAITH BY
"Everything is possible for him who believes."Mark 9:23

"According to your faith it will be done to you."Matt. 9:29

"... without faith it is impossible to please God."Heb. 11:6

10. INCREASE YOUR JOY BY
"Join me in spreading the news; together let's get the word out."Psalm 34:3 (Mes)

"Make the most of your chances to tell others the Good News."Colossians 4:5a (TLB)

Think of how different the world would be of each of us told just one person about "the good news" this week.
