Make My Monday Pretty — Celebrating Advent

Monday, November 30, 2015

Happy Monday!! Since we are in Advent I selected some Advent || religious images that made my Monday My Monday Pretty.  I hope these put a little smile on your face too.

We are in the first week of Advent and hope is the first virtue of Christ we celebrate. With that in mind, I chose this lovely picture.

The meaning (of Advent) is in the waiting: The spirit of waiting.  I choose this depiction of Advent in keeping with the spirit of waiting.

As you all know by now I♥ve typography.  I choose this to post because it emphases hope in prophecy / expectation.

Spiritual Sunday — Advent || The First Sunday

Sunday, November 29, 2015

The first Sunday of Advent begins
a season of hope and fulfillment.

There perhaps may be some of my readers who do not know what Advent is.  That being said, Advent is generally known as the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas, observed in commemoration of the coming of Christ into the world.

On each Sunday of the Advent season, Christians focus on one of the four virtues Jesus brings to us: Hope, L♥ve, Joy, and Peace.  Today being the first Sunday of Advent we are celebrating prophecy / expectation or "hope".  We can have hope because God is faithful and will keep the promises made to us. Our hope come from God.

Sepia Saturday — Sepia with Color

Saturday, November 28, 2015

I've always liked sepia with color.  I think the contrast is striking, and if done correctly it can make an image very striking and powerful.

Let me know what you think about the sepia with color images I've selected.  Better yet, why don't you share some of your sepia with color images.

I think this is a great example of how sepia with color can be striking and powerful.  See how the single red poppy and the caption really stand out. This photo came from

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

I had no idea what I was going to post for What's Up Wednesday then I ran across this super cute picture of a squirrel eating corn. Look how cute he is with his cheeks full of corn to enjoy later.  I poked around the internet and found some cute autumn / Thanksgiving pictures with animals.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Make My Monday Pretty — Thanksgiving Tablescapes

Monday, November 23, 2015

Who could think of having Thanksgiving dinner without a beautiful eye-catching tablescape.  I l♥ve a beautifully decorated table anytime of year, but there is something special about a Thanksgiving tablescape.

It's a time of year we reflect on all the blessings we have and the things we are thankful for.  More importantly, it is a time spent in celebration with family and friends.

When you think of Thanksgiving tablescapes one of the first names that comes to mind is (of course) Martha Stewart. Here is a lovely white pumpkin floral centerpiece she created for Thanksgiving.
Here is gorgeous Thanksgiving tablescape by Serenity Cove using a lot of  autumn textures and colors.

Ignore The Naysayers - Life Skills You Need To Succeed

Sunday, November 22, 2015

If you are anything like me you're asking yourself what exactly is a naysayer — here's what I found.

NAYSAYER: “A person who says something won’t work or isn’t possible; a cynic who habitually expresses pessimistic views.”

Your dreams don't have to make sense to anyone but YOU — because after all it’s YOUR life! With God's guidance choose the direction that makes sense to YOU. You don’t need anyone’s permission. The key of your happiness will be in direct proportion to how much you live according to your own inner promptings.

Sepia (& pink) Saturday

Sepia (& pink) Saturday

Saturday, November 21, 2015

Last Saturday I talked about sepia and posted some pictures using the sepia effect.  This week I thought I'd kick it up a notch and add one of my favorite colors to the sepia mix — did you guess that it was going to be PINK

I like the muted soft contrast between the sepia and the pink.  To me it has a romantic Victorian-type feel.  In any event, I hope you enjoy the sepia pictures I'm posting today.

Please share some of your sepia ideas with me!

This is an old dark sepia & pink postcard from 1940's Paris — isn't it lovely.

This is probably my favorite sepia & pink post today.  I l♥ve the high church steeples in the background, and the soft pink cherry blossoms in the foreground.

Since you all know I adore all things girly, especially pretty stationery I just had to show you these vintage sepia & pink note cards.
